Spangenberg Piano Studio offers private piano instruction for students of all ages and levels. The mission of Spangenberg Piano Studio is to teach, motivate, and encourage students to understand and enjoy the richness and complexity of piano music, expand their intellectual creativity and curiosity through music-making, and ultimately, express and share their accomplishments with others. Lois says, "I want my students to grow and learn while having fun!"
Lois Spangenberg has over 20 years of teaching experience in piano performance and accompanying, including technique, theory, sight-reading, and musicianship. She emphasizes helping students discover and develop their own goals for learning the piano and guides them to reach those goals. She works to provide students with a well-rounded music education that will give them a strong foundation for attaining their goals. It is her own aspiration to develop within each student a life-long love of playing the piano whether they are learning in order to perform publicly, for their own personal enjoyment or as a stepping stone to some future aim.
Lois has a B.A. in Music from the University of Arizona. She is a member of the Tucson, State and National Music Teachers Associations. She currently serves on the board of the Tucson Music Teachers Association. These associations contribute to her personal growth and development as a teacher and provide opportunities to involve her students in additional enriching activities to support their learning through private lessons.
Lois also works in the computer industry. She is currently employed at Sunquest Information Systems as a Client Support Analyst. She previously worked as Information Systems Assistant and then Manager at Casas Church supporting their computer network and users. She finds many of the analytical skills required in working with computers to be closely related to those used in performing and creating music.
