Music has been my lifelong passion and continues to offer endless challenges and excitement.
As a performer, my experience encompasses a wide range of interests with Jazz, Classical, Popular, R&B, Brazilian, Cuban and Indian Classical Music, to name some of my pursuits.
As a Teacher, I have many years of experience, and my joy and enthusiasm in teaching music is conveyed with each student and each lesson.
Many of my students have successfully participated in various performances events including All State Regional Etudes, Competitions, Chair Placement Auditions, Recitals, Concert Band, Marching Band and Jazz Band.
My comprehensive teaching method trains the student in Music Reading, Precise Fingering Technique, Playing with Expression and Beautiful Tone!
One of my goals is to help my students, whether as a soloist or as a member of the school band, to excel and advance rapidly, and to experience their fullest potential as a musician.
Saxophonist and Flutist Richard Sullivan, has performed internationally with artists of renown in the U.S. and Brazil.
A classically trained Flutist and an accomplished Saxophonist as well, a master of improvisation and Brazilian popular music.
While residing in Portland, Oregon, he performed with Ronnie Steen, Count Dutch, Sonny King, Curtis Salgado, Ben Falana, Laura Love, among many others.
Active in Southern Arizona as a member of the Neon Prophet Group, Sam Taylor Band, Blue Light Blues Band, Bobby Taylor and the Real Deal, Duo Vibrato, Jazz Lab, Nappy Brown, Kings of Pleasure Band and many others. He has toured and recorded with many legendary reggae stars such as Joe Higgs, The Meditations, Mikey Dread, Sister Carol & Danny Clark.
More recently Richard has performed and recorded with many local artists including Larry Redhouse, Bill Ronstadt, Saravá, The Mambo All-Stars and Señor Q, Bossa Nova Duo, Duo Brasil, Jazz Lab, to mention a few.
In Brazil, Richard has recorded and performed Bossa Nova, Samba, Jazz and Choros with guitarist Ítalo Peron, Percussionist Adriano Busko, clarinetist Paulo Sérgio Santos and the group Futricando.
